The Anchorage Downtown Saturday Market first opened in 1992, and consisted of only a few dozen vendors. Its goal was to provide a conveniently located, family oriented, open air market where Alaska residents and visitors alike could browse, shop and enjoy the beautiful Alaska summer season.
During the 2009 season, over 300 vendors will offer Alaska’s largest variety of goods including fresh Alaska Grown produce, fresh seafood from local waters, a wide variety of foods to eat at the Market or to take home, spectacular and unique works of art, handmade crafts and gifts by Alaskan artisans, collectibles, antiques and so much more!
Along with all the vendors, there is always continuous, family friendly entertainment! You’ll experience an wide variety of musicians, dancers, magic and specialty acts such as multicultural and Alaskan indigenous on stage presentations.
Located in the parking lot at 3rd & E Streets (across from the Hilton Hotel) in downtown Anchorage, the Saturday Market grounds overlook scenic Ship Creek and Cook Inlet.
The market is open mid May to September. It opens at 10:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM. RAIN OR SHINE it will be open.
Wednesday Market – Northway Mall
Smaller than the Saturday market is Wednesday market at Northway Mall. The market runs during the summer at the Northway Mall in East Anchorage. Along with venders there is also carnival rides for kids of all ages.
