The Mayor’s Midnight Sun Events:
Marathon
The Marathon event is 26.2 miles in length beginning at Bartlett High School and continuing through the eastern foothills and across Anchorage to the West High School finish line.
Marathon Relay
This four member team event will move along the same course as the Marathon (with much less effort). The first team of runners crossing the finish line with the marathon sash wins.
Half Marathon
The Half Marathon (13.1 miles) starts and finishes at West High School. The course travels down West Northern Lights Boulevard for 3 miles. It then follows the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail past Earthquake Park and Point Woronzof until it finally turns around at mile 6.5. The return route follows the Coastal Trail for 6 miles until it reaches Westchester Lagoon. The last mile follows the marathon course to a shared finish line.
Five Miler
The Five Miler (5.61 miles) begins at West High School and follows the Half Marathon course out West Northern Lights Boulevard. At Earthquake Park the Five Milers veer off the Half Marathon course and heads northwest on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to Westchester Lagoon. The last mile follows the marathon course to a shared finish line at West High School.
Youth Cup
The Youth Cup is for children ages seven to fourteen years old. The course makes a complete loop around Westchester Lagoon and finishes with the other events at West High School.
